  • Can I use the same print file for all distributors?

Unfortunatley, no. Each print distributor (KDP, Nook Press, and Ingram) has their own guidelines for margins and bleeds. Ingram has a specific template you must use. Whereas the other two will need to match their measurment requirements.

  • Do you supply the prints or do I need to find somewhere to send my files?

We have a list of print shops we work with and can happily be the middle-person to make sure your design specifciations print to the print shop's regulation. If you have your own print shop you prefer to work with, we will need margin and bleed line guidelines for whatever design we are putting together for you.

  • Where can I purchase an ISBN?

Great question! The best place to buy your ISBN from is www.bowker.com. They offer a great discount for bulk purchases. You will need one ISBN per edition (ebook, paperback, hard-cover audio, etc.)

  • Where can I purchase a domain and hosting for my new website?

If you already have a domain, you can either keep it where it's located or we port it to a new location if needed.

A good resource for hosting, new domains or moving your domain is: GoDaddy

Some sites like Squarespace, Wordpress, and Wix offer inhouse hosting plans, as well.

  • How long do you keep my files on hand?

We archive all client files after six months. We offer a retrieval fee to locate the files once they have been transferred to an archive, but we can't make any guarentees on those files after the project has been close for six months.

  • Do you offer refunds if my project doesn't result in sales?

No, we do not offer refunds unless the project has not been started or worked on. We are happy to work with every client until  fully satisfied, but we do close projects on common agreement. Once they are closed, we are happy to re-open them but further fees may apply.

  • Do you have a payment plan for large scale projects?

We are happy to work out a payment plan for all projects incurring invoice of $500 or more. Please email us at info@madhatstudios.com to discuss options.

  • Where do you purchase stock photos from?

We use a variety of different commercial free sites such as:

    www.adobestock.com

    www.depositphoto.com

    www.twenty20.com

    www.pexels.com

    www.unsplash.com

Premium sites such as the following will incur an additional fee, but we also use (If you have credits with any of these distributors, you are welcome to supply us with the photo rather than the upcharge):

    www.istock.com

    www.shutterfly.com

    www.bigstockphoto.com

    www.dreamstime.com

We will also work with photographers' licensed and approved work, selected and purchased by the client.
